Egypt was an absolutely incredible experience. Like every adventure, I always learn new things along the way. I will admit, I was NOT prepared mentally or physically for this trip, and I left a ton of necessary items at home. So, I’ve learned from my mistakes, and I want to help make sure you pack everything you need for your future adventure to Egypt!

✔️ You’re going to need a bulk load of toilet paper, tissues, and hand sanitizer. Most locations in Egypt do not have toilet paper or any paper products in their facilities, and some will charge you to use the little they have. Stock up on these items before you get to Egypt to stay healthy and clean and save on expenses.

✔️ Trust me – you can’t escape the sun in Egypt. I regret not bringing a hat to shield my face. Thankfully, I had amazing tour mates who let me snag some sunscreen so, I didn’t end up with any burns, but you’ll want as much protection from the sun as possible. My friend even brought an umbrella, and it came in handy when we were touring all day in the heat with little shade.

✔️ I made the mistake of only bringing Egyptian Pounds to Egypt. However, USD is the way to go. I recommend taking out loose dollar bills and keeping some ones in your wallet. Most places are very cheap, and a dollar will get you far in Egypt. You can pay with your credit card as well at most places but having dollars on hand will help with quick purchases such as water bottles, souvenirs, and tips.

✔️ Most locations such as a mosque will require you to remove your shoes before entering. I recommend always having a pair of socks in your travel bag in the case you need to take off your shoes. Who wants their bare feet touching the ground anyways?! Closed toe shoes are also super important because there is a ton of dirt, sand, and debris throughout Egypt. Plus, you’ll be walking all day and I guarantee flip flops won’t cut it.

Hope these tips help with your next adventure to Egypt ✨🇪🇬🐫
